Spring Yoga Weekend, Fri 23 - Sunday 25 April

Temple Country Retreat and Spa – an adult only destination spa just an hour west of Dublin – is there to help replace what everyday life takes out of you. From sleeping to dining, from treatment to therapy, everything revolves around one simple philosophy: eat healthily, drink wisely and sleep well, while the stresses and tensions of your body are attended to.

The daily programmes at Temple are intended to integrate physical and mental wellbeing. While on the surface, the spa appears to be all about pampering, there is a deeper vein of activity that draws guests back again and again.

One avenue to health is the practice of yoga. Yoga is an ancient physical practice that has the goal of a balanced physiology. The stretches stimulate the circulation and release tension, they have a balancing effect on the hormonal glands and on the nervous system. They promote suppleness and flexibility.

Spring Yoga Weekend – Move, Eat, Sleep and Connect

This weekend, the yoga practice will be the focus, with additional classes above the usual schedule, to help energize and cleanse the body and mind. It will be an uplifting and mood enhancing weekend of meditation and yoga to help bring the spring feel to the body. The yoga and meditation practice, combined with healthy and light food options, cleansing juice selections, and the relaxing spa facilities, will aid in rejuvenating body and mind to get the best from the coming Summer.

Yoga

The yoga taught at Temple is therapeutic - the intention is that everyone attending should feel some benefit. The exercises and awareness developed through the practice of yoga assist in the physical activity of our daily lives - in maintaining function in our muscles and joints, in balance, in the effects movement and activity have on our metabolism, in contributing to our ease of mind and to our vitality.

Dining

The Garden Room restaurant will serve healthy and light meal options specifically designed for participants of the yoga retreat. There will also be healthy juice selection to aid in the cleansing and detoxifying process, with a complimentary glass of juice each morning before meditation.

Relaxation

Miles away from it all …with everything at your fingertips. Temple Spa's facilities - including a vitality pool, sauna, steam room, tropical showers, foot baths, gym and relaxation rooms - are the ideal places to unwind and let go after a yoga class.

Spa Therapies

Temple offers a number of spa therapies that will compliment and enhance the cleansing process -

•  Full Body Massage eases muscular tension, soothes the nervous system and improves circulation and lymph drainage.

•  The Yon-Ka Body Detox wrap is a highly beneficial herbal wrap that helps to detoxify, de-stress and promote satin smooth skin.

•  Reflexology applies hand and finger pressure to various points of the feet to facilitate the body's own healing mechanism, including circulation, lymph drainage and the release of toxins.

•  Floatation Therapy is the ultimate in relaxation and stress release, as the Epson salts and minerals allow an inner state of calm equivalent to deep meditation. One hour floatation is considered to allow the body to repair to the equivalent of 5 hours sleep.

Through participating in the yoga and meditation classes, healthy food, calm and tranquil atmosphere, as well as availing of one or more relaxing spa therapies this weekend aims to balance the mind and body, leading to a more harmonious state of being which in turn will facilitate greater contentment and well being.

Facilitators

The weekend is facilitated by Temple's regular yoga teacher, Patricia Doyle, along with spa proprietor Declan Fagan.

Patricia received her Iyengar yoga Diploma in 2003 and has been teaching yoga since then. “Patricia, the yoga teacher, is an absolutely fascinating woman and hugely passionate about her work. The class felt hugely therapeutic.” Social and Personal September 2008. Patricia recognizes each individual's capabilities and adapts her instruction accordingly.

Declan has been a student of Mindfulness and techniques of Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction for the past 20 years. Along with his wife, Bernadette, and our spa team, he has been guiding the mind-body programme at Temple since 1992.
